Book Review: Finding Claire by Pamela Humphrey

Finding-Claire-by-Pam-Humphrey

So today I have a review of “Finding Claire” by Pamela Humphrey. It was free earlier this month on Amazon, so I picked it up to read. I first met Pam on Facebook in the group 356 Writing Challenge 2018, which I’m still technically a part of, but as of the writing of this blog post, I haven’t been able to actually write because of a hand injury. For those of you that don’t know, I write by hand, not on my laptop, but I don’t want to get into that too much. I’ve also recently acquired some of her other books and as I read them will also be reviewing as well. Here’s the blurb about the book from Amazon:

She wakes up in the back of a van, and her whole world changes.

Injured and afraid—with no recollection of who she is—she stumbles through the Texas Hill Country with a photo labeled Claire. Seeking safety, she knocks at Alex’s cabin door. He protects her, even though she stirs up memories that haunt him.

She wants her life back. He wants to ease his guilt and will protect her even if it means risking his own life. Together they search, hoping questions will be answered by finding Claire.

To start, I loved the main character of this story. Being inside of her head made my heart pound while she stumbled through the Texas Hill Country. And I breathed a sigh of relief when she finds Alex. The twists and turns the plot takes had me wanting to read more and I finished this book in a matter of days when it usually takes me a week or more because well, I have a toddler. But I found myself stealing every spare moment I could to read so I could find out what happens. Sometimes I wasn’t so sure I trusted the main character’s instincts, but it usually turned out she knew exactly what she was doing. As the bond between her and Alex grows, we see how he’s holding back, but not knowing why at first was another thing that made me want to read more. The other friends she makes along the way prove invaluable to her as well and I love having people like that around me, so this really warmed my heart as well. I love the romantic feel of this book, without the heat and heavily sexual scenes, a lot of other books have. I know sometimes they have their place, but just for the simple fact of showing that the characters are attracted to each other, it’s not my thing. At times, the letters placed throughout the book just about broke my heart and made me want to cry. I’m definitely looking forward to reading other books by Pam and will be reviewing them as well in the coming months.

You can find Pamela Humphrey on Amazon, of course, and also on Facebook. I hope you’ve enjoyed this review and if you check out any of Pamela’s books, let me know and make sure to leave her a review on Amazon!
