Book Review: Finding Treasure by Pamela Humphrey

Today we have the next book in the Hill Country Secrets series by Pamela Humphrey, Finding Treasure. Just as always, here is the blurb from Amazon since I’m not very good at summarizing books.

Finding-Treasure

A seemingly innocent encounter changes her dream life into a nightmare.

Settled into her Texas home, Kate launches her genealogy business. Still living in the cabin, Alex racks up miles on his truck, driving to see her in Schatzenburg every chance he gets. A young, wealthy guy buys the house down the block from Kate and causes a stir. He lavishes her with attention, which leaves Alex questioning the motive.

Although she is happy, Kate wants more than a dinner-and-a-movie relationship. Loving the companionship, Alex wants her to trust him and plans a surprise party to make her birthday a special event.

When Kate is targeted but has no idea why, Alex moves into her extra room, only to learn he can’t always protect her.

Pamela has quickly become one of my favorite authors with this series. The way Kate and Alex’s relationship develops is beautiful to watch. The doubts and fears they both have about their relationship is enough to make me want to cry sometimes. The trust between them is evident, even though it’s put to the test plenty. Kate’s passion for genealogy is evident and infectious, even though I have not the slightest interest in it myself, I wanted to know more about the people she was researching. I’m very much looking forward to reading the next installment which is The Chase, but I’ve committed to reading an ARC recently, so that will be my next read and I’ll be writing a review of that and posting it here on the blog before I get to read The Chase.

I do hope you enjoy reading my reviews, even though most of them aren’t very long. I like to share what I read and some brief thoughts, especially for those of you looking for new books and authors to check out.

As always, please consider subscribing to my newsletter. That’s where you’ll get more Behind the Scenes and I’m going to start working on character interviews for my WIP soon. There will be questions posed to each of my characters and you’ll get sneak peeks at the interviews or possibly what doesn’t make it into the actual blog post (like rambling or extra questions) that will be sent to my newsletter subscribers.

I do always love hearing from my readers as well. If you have questions for me or ones you’d like answered by my characters, please feel free to send them to me at cmobberly@gmail.com, or send a private message on Facebook. I check it multiple times a day.
