Weekly Writing Update

I’m late, but here I am. It’s Easter here in the US, so I’m sure you’ll cut me some slack. For those that know me personally, you’ll know my father is in a nursing home. For those that don’t, he’s in a nursing home. He’s been there right about 3 going on 4 years. He got to see my son as a newborn at home, but just after his first birthday and Christmas is when he had to move in there long-term. It’s quite a long story and not something I’m comfortable sharing here, as I’m sure you understand. Anyway, all that’s to say I took my son to visit my dad today. Needless to say, he was very happy and surprised to see us. I didn’t call him and tell him we’d be coming, just in case it didn’t happen. We hung out with him in the dining room where my son had room to play so he didn’t get bored, like he does when we’re in my dad’s room. He even interacted with some of the people because usually he’s pretty shy. We stayed for a while, then had to come home, but it was nice to see him.

This past week I managed to get some writing done, but not as much as I would have liked and I didn’t get any revising done. That still scares me to no end, but I have to find a way to get over it because it has got to get done one way or another if I want to publish. And I definitely do want to publish! Otherwise, what has all of this been for, right? I’ve been thinking about my novella’s cover and even about getting into designing my covers a bit. There’s so many other things on my mind about writing too.

Yesterday, I didn’t get any writing done, but that isn’t really unusual for me on a Saturday. I usually don’t plan to write on Saturdays because my son and I usually stay the night over his godparent’s house Friday night and we’ll hang out all day Saturday. Which is basically what happened this time, except we hung out at another friend’s house with my son’s godparents. Our other friends are moving at the end of May. The husband is Navy and he’s retiring, so they’re looking at moving up to New England. They like the cold and the snow! Not me, thank you very much! I’ll miss them like crazy and my son looks forward to our visits because they have children his age and even the older ones will play with him too. BTW, they have 7, yes SEVEN!

Well, that’s about it for this week. I hope you’ve enjoyed your weekend, whether you celebrate Easter or not. If you do, Happy Easter!! Until next time!
