JANUARY

Welcome to 2019, baby!

I’m starting out the year on a high note!! In case you missed it on my Facebook pagethe first novel in my series was officially completed as of December 30, 2018!! Or, at least, you know, the first draft, LOL. I’ll need a bit of time away from it (but not too much) before I jump into editing. If you’d be interested in being a beta reader, check out the blurb below and if it sounds like something you’d be interested in, fill out this short form: https://goo.gl/forms/Ef7oat5hjpDcmme33! Also, I’ve set up a poll to hopefully narrow down a title for this first novel, the link for that is after the blurb.

Blurb:

Lynley, what some folks would call an irresponsible twenty-something, has the rug pulled out from under her when just about everything in her life falls to pieces. After losing her father and yet another job, she retreats to her best friend’s apartment and enough liquor to erase her memory then wakes up in his bed the next morning, both of them naked. This isn’t the first time her drinking has gotten her into trouble. When she finds out she’s pregnant, she panics thinking there are two possibilities for the father; her best friend, and a random one night stand.

Jacy, Lynley’s level-headed best friend, has told her he has feelings for her multiple times, but she keeps pushing him away. After the night they shared, he knows she can’t deny their attraction anymore. Losing his parents at a young age and being raised by his grandmother has given him a strength few people possess. While it’s tempting and would be far less painful, to cut ties with Lynley, Jacy stands by her after being hurt by her countless times.

Join them as they fall in love and build a life together and their story unfolds.

Votes are anonymous and you only get one, so make it count!!

I’m trying my first disc bound planner this year to help organize my stories and track my word counts. I’m joining the 365 Writing Challenge again on Facebook because I really feel like that’s what is responsible for getting me into the rhythm of writing MOST days. I can’t say every day because I didn’t write every single day of 2018, but I wrote WAY more than I have in the past, thanks to the support, accountability and weekly check-ins the group provides.

Christmas was AMAZING! It was so fun and exciting to watch my son open his presents on Christmas morning. In the days leading up to Christmas, he would ask if he could open his presents yet and we told him no. It was so funny when he would grumble at us because he didn’t get his way, but I managed not to laugh at him. On Christmas Eve we did let him open a few presents and he even got new Christmas PJ’s to sleep in that night. I think that will be a new tradition for him each year. Next year though, I’ll make sure to get them earlier in the season! Pickin’s were slim by the time I thought of doing it!

Since this is going out well past New Year’s Day, I’ll share how I *plan* to spend my New Year’s, LOL! I can’t say for sure how it’ll turn out. But, I’m writing this ON New Year’s Eve and as of now, the plan is to head over to my son’s godparent’s later today, have dinner, and ring in the New Year with them. Other than that, I can’t say what will happen. His godfather tried to convince me to let him stay up until midnight, but there’s no way I’m dealing with an over-tired four-year-old tonight!! At most, I might let him stay up until 9:30ish…if he’s being good. His usual bedtime is 8-8:30.

Tomorrow, it’s back to writing and I’ll be starting on book two! Just so you can help hold me accountable, my goal is to write at least 750 words 4 days/week as of now. I’m going to see how that goes. I know I should have no trouble meeting that goal, so after January, I’ll be re-evaluating it and adjusting it, probably upping it. But, I’m planning in my days off this year.

I can’t believe what 2018 has brought me! If you had asked me at the end of 2017 if I thought I’d have a completed first draft of a 111k word novel I would have answered with a big ol’ N-O!! My initial goal for 2018 was to write about 100-200 words a day, but as the days/weeks/months went by, I found myself cranking out so many more words. I surprised even myself with how much I accomplished! I didn’t want to set the bar too high since writing every day was new to me, but as I got into the rhythm and the mindset of the story, it became so much easier!! I want to thank you for going on this journey with me! I hope we’re all buckled in because it’s about to get interesting!! I’m ready!! Are you??

If at any time you want to send a message my way, I love to hear from my readers. I hope you’ll let others know about me and what I’m doing so they can follow along on this journey too!
