August Writing Update

4

Happy Day After Labor Day! Did anyone do anything fun yesterday? Or even over the weekend? I was BUSY Saturday and Sunday and believe me, I still feel like I’m paying for it. But, we had a great time and made some memories with my son, so it’s worth it.

As I’m sure you can see, there’s been a change to my website and if you’re subscribed to my newsletter, follow me on Twitter, and a fan of my Facebook page, you’ll see changes there too. I have an amazingly talented friend who loves figuring out how Photoshop works and he took some time one afternoon and helped design my new banner. I’m in love with it and I can’t thank him enough for taking the time to make it for me!! He’s not on Facebook, but if you’re on Google+, you can find him here.

So, Saturday we had a bit of a photo shoot to go along with the new banner because I got tired of using the avatar you’ve seen everywhere. Yes, that’s not really me, though it does resemble me to some degree…or at least I like to think it does. If you’re familiar with Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis, that’s where we ended up on Saturday. At first, we drove around historic Annapolis looking for parking so we could wander around there and do the photo shoot. But it soon because obvious that it was too crowded. DUH, holiday weekend! Oh well, live and learn. Heading to Quiet Waters Park was a good idea, as it also gave my son the option of playing on the playground while we took photos. But boy oh boy, was it hot after a while! Especially when you see in the photos, yes, I AM wearing pants!

The photos I’m sharing here are just some of the ones snapped. I have more Behind the Scenes type photos that I’ll be sharing in my newsletter coming up soon, so make sure you’re subscribed to that if you want to see me making some silly faces, and see some less than flattering photos of me as well. We might even play a game of “Guess What I’m Thinking” in the next newsletter issue with some of the photos!

I’m not usually a fan of having my photo taken, nor do I think I look too good in most of my photos, but my friend did an amazing job of catching some great shots. I felt pretty self-conscious and at times downright silly being a model, but I know that comes with the territory. Also in the newsletter, I’ll be sharing photos of me and my son, so if you’d like to see those, again, make sure you subscribe!

That’s the majority of my update this month. I’m still dealing with a hand injury that keeps me from doing any actual writing. For those of you that don’t know, I write my stories with pen and paper, not on my laptop. I find that my ideas flow more easily and I can write much better that way. However, my thumb on my right hand has been hurting lately, making it difficult to grip a pen for more than a minute or two just to jot down a few lines or sign my name. I ordered a compression glove with support for my thumb from Amazon and it came yesterday, but sadly, it was too small. I went ahead and ordered a size up and went to return the smaller glove. While they’re giving me a refund, they’re not requiring me to send back the too-small glove, so I don’t know what to do with it as I can’t wear it.

I have been reading, and there’s a new book review that’s going to be released later this month here on the blog, so do keep an eye out for that.

Oh, and Sunday we went to the Renaissance Faire! I have garb and all, but I don’t have any pictures of myself from that day. It was nice, but again, it was hot! We took my son’s stroller, which was a good thing too because there’s a lot of walking there. My son rode the pony, which he loved. And we intended to watch the jousting, but after the first 10 minutes or so, he was tired of sitting in the sun so we ended up leaving to find some shade. Still, all in all, it was a great day and I wish we could go again, but the admission alone is enough to say once is enough for this struggling yet-to-be-published author this season. The good thing is that my son was free and he has a few more years for that, which is a plus.

Ok, I’ve rambled enough and I need to make the title graphic so I can get this published so all you lovely folks can read what’s been going on lately. As always, I love comments of all kinds, so leave some and I’ll be sure to reply!

    1. Thanks, Juli! I don’t know if I’ll ever really get the hang of being a model, lol, but it was still pretty fun!
