Book Review: Everything We Keep by Kerry Lonsdale

Everything We Keep by Kerry Lonsdale

So, initially, my goal was to get a review up on my blog every month, but I’ve dropped the ball. There’s been a lot going on here and I haven’t been reading as much as I’d like. Recently though, I read a new book: Everything We Keep by Kerry Lonsdale. Every day I get an e-mail from The Fussy Librarian with free or low-cost e-books and I’ve grabbed quite a few of them, mostly in the romance or Christian fiction genres. I’m pretty picky when it comes to romance however, I’d much prefer more on the sweeter side versus steamy/erotic/graphic romance novels. If you’re interested in getting these e-mails you can head over thefussylibrarian.com to sign up.

PS- No, I get nothing from recommending them, but I love getting freebies and you might discover a new author you fall in love with! Ok, on with the review!!

I’ll be straight with you here…I SUCK at writing summaries/blurbs, lol. What a conundrum I’ll be facing when I need to write the blurb for my book, but there you have it! For that reason, I’ve taken a shortcut and copied and pasted the blurb from Amazon for this book rather than driving myself crazy…

A luminous debut with unexpected twists, Everything We Keep explores the devastation of loss, the euphoria of finding love again, and the pulse-racing repercussions of discovering the truth about the ones we hold dear and the lengths they will go to protect us.

Sous chef Aimee Tierney has the perfect recipe for the perfect life: marry her childhood sweetheart, raise a family, and buy out her parents’ restaurant. But when her fiancé, James Donato, vanishes in a boating accident, her well-baked future is swept out to sea. Instead of walking down the aisle on their wedding day, Aimee is at James’s funeral—a funeral that leaves her more unsettled than at peace.

As Aimee struggles to reconstruct her life, she delves deeper into James’s disappearance. What she uncovers is an ocean of secrets that make her question everything about the life they built together. And just below the surface is a truth that may set Aimee free…or shatter her forever.

I don’t know if it was me or not, but at first I had a hard time getting into the storyline, but after a few chapters I couldn’t put it down. I think the fact that it starts with a funeral was a downer for me, but still, I understand why it started there. I tend to read more for the plot/storyline and that kept me going through the entire book. I was surprised and wanted to cry a few times as Aimee went through the different stages of grief along the way.

I do recommend this book and I think I’ll be checking out Kerry’s other books as well. You can head over to her page on Amazon and see what else she’s published, check out her website, and her Facebook page! I really hope you’ll check this book out and hopefully her others as well!

As always, I love feedback, so comments here are welcome as well as contacting me via my contact page is welcome and please feel free to visit my Facebook page and sign up for my newsletter!

  1. I’m terrible at summaries too! I do book vids each week on my blog, and have recently realised that I just tend to ramble on about what I liked about the book rather than really describing it. Not that helpful… 😉
